In 1985, more than 25 years ago, when Run DMC first came on the scene, when rock stars like Bruce Springsteen and the Motley Crue were at their peak, when "we are the world" was written by Michael Jackson, which was sang by a string of popstars, and when the coal miners fought the establishment for their jobs, when it was cool to have big hair and huge square framed glasses - it was in this year that a vacant building in the heart of Hinckley, was converted into a pizza pasta take away called Ponchinello's.

Back then people didn't really know much about authentic Italian food and drink. It was all a bit different! We were telling people the importance of holding your pizza box flat, and turning people who came asking for fish & chips into ardent pizza lovers! The first 5 years were difficult. They always are in business. We made the dough by hand, and had one free standing oven from which to work. Slowly but surely things began to happen. People kept coming back, we got to know them, they got to know Ponchinello's and what it stood for. Soon we bought a bigger twin deck pizza oven (which we still have in Hinckley), we bought a dough machine so we could continue making fresh dough everyday, we refused to become another a fast food franchise which sold hot food straight out of the freezer! We wanted to remain authentic, keep true to the word fresh.

We continue to make all our dough in-house fresh every day. We make our own sauces, with our own ingredients, and have perfected what it means to be Italian. Since then, we've grown, from strength to strength. Today, over 25 years later, we deliver, we're online, and we even cater. We are the only authentic Italian caterer in Leicestershire.

Our story is about great food, impeccable service and always remaining affordable. The future is bright. We're now looking to expand into other villages and towns in Leicestershire. We believe it's important that people begin to know what it means to enjoy "FRESH" pizza and pasta again.

Of course, at the end, we could have never done it without our customers. We've had families coming to us since we started, their children continue to eat with us, and now we even have their grandchildren coming in to buy a chocolate cupcake! Without our customers, we would be no where! It's been a great ride so far, and we hope to be here for another 25 years and continue to represent FRESHLY made authentic Italian pizza, pasta and wine.
